It features all the typical aspects of RTS combat, but throws in many different means of victory as well as diplomatic pursuits. The AOK/C opening cinematic music was really well done, but the in-game loops were not memorable.Įdit: When I'm actually playing, sometimes I'll turn the sound off and listen to In Flames or Yngwie Malmsteen or Metal Church in the background. Though Age of Empires was a late comer in the real-time strategy genre, the design team used the knowledge of its predecessors to create a very advanced game. The in-game music was okay, but not memorable. The AOE original opening theme was pretty cool.

"Revolution" music is neat and I wish Revolution was cooler so I could have a good reason to listen to it more. They should have hired Robbie Robertson and the Red Road Ensemble to re-record it. It wasn't cheesy or anything, just sort of bland. The TWC version was just an "unplugged" version of the AOE3 theme with flute and drum. They should have hired Wu Guo Zhong to re-record the second movement, and used that. I definitely thought the TAD version of the AOE3 theme was cheesy with the tabla and the sitar. The AOE3 soundtrack is nice too, it has the hornpipe theme and the medley containing the AOE II music set to orchestra, and the choral parts ("building siege") are great.
AGE OF EMPIRES 1 SOUNDTRACK MOVIE
It really sounds like an adventure movie soundtrack. Age of Empires (AoE) is a history-based real-time strategy video game developed by Ensemble Studios and published by Microsoft, and the first game in the Age. I liked the soundtrack from AOM the best, and still love to play Fort Wars when I get the sheep and get to hear the heroic music.
